Apply to the Diversity Teaching Lab

Are you interested in improving your instruction around issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion? Do you have an activity that you want to test out? Do you want to practice leading a discussion on a controversial topic? Do you want to brainstorm about how to address a topic in your course?

Any NCSU graduate student, faculty member, or staff member can apply to lead a lesson in the Diversity Teaching Lab. The lesson can address any topic related to diversity, equity, and inclusion designed for a K-12, undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral level audience. Lessons can range from brief activities to 2 hour class sessions. A Lab instructor will meet with you before and after your session to help you plan and understand the Lab’s feedback.

Our course, ECI 509 002: Teaching about Identities, Diversity, and Equity in K-12 and Higher Education (aka the Diversity Teaching Lab), consists of instructors (preservice teachers and graduate students) interested in learning about and practicing strategies and techniques for teaching about diversity, equity, and inclusion. We explore teaching about diversity and are creating a handbook on diversity teaching.
